From Wayne: So, Its customary when reaching the end of a tour to say a few thank yous to the people who have helped make it happen. I know we still have two more shows left to play, Leeds Trinity Church on Wednesday and Workington Carnegie on Thursday, both of which are being filmed and recorded for probable/possible future DVD/CD release, but I thought Id get this out of the way now. Firstly, and foremost, Id like to say a huge thank you to Graham, my trusted companion these last 8 weeks or so. Sam to my Frodo, Parker to my Lady Penelope, Ken to my Barbie, Robin to my Batman, Burt to my Ernie, Sancho Panza to my Don Quixote, you get the idea........This has been a long, hard tour which would not have been possible without you at my side. When we started in Trowbridge back in September we looked at the schedule of shows and it looked endless and a mountain to climb. Well, we climbed it, mate. We did it. We traveled a lot of miles, most of which you drove whilst I napped like a diva in the passenger seat. We saw some remarkable landscapes, some fearful car parks, some very late nights and some very early mornings, some predictable and some strange hotel rooms. Remember you were Tom Hanks and I was Julia Roberts in Bratislava, but I wanted to be Brigitte Bardot. We ate pizza in Italy, drank Bordeaux in France, you ate schnitzel in Germany whilst I munched on a cheese sandwich, we dived out of the way of cyclists in Munster and Holland, and we traveled through a forest of giant windmills on the road from Vienna to Bratislava. We enjoyed the daily company and instruction of Ethel, and when Ethel was tired, Felicity. We would have been two lost souls without their ministrations. It was a tour not without incident, and not without some amazing shows. There have been moments that have passed that will forever be etched in my memory and others that I have already forgotten. Weve consoled each other each time Liverpool have lost or under performed, which sadly has been too many times already this season. Weve been there for each other when the other has gotten the blues or homesick and when weve been missing our loved ones. Weve been Father Confessor to each other, and also enjoyed the hours of silence between us. And all with nary a bad word between us. Love you, mate, and I shall miss you. Until next time. And Id also like to thank George, my friend who also happens to be my manager, who worked with the agents & promoters to put this whole thing together and who planned and prepared our itinerary. For booking hotels, car hires, ferry crossings, and flights, for doing all the logistical boring stuff that needed to be done. Who manned the office and co-ordinated the release of my album, Songs of Candlelight & Razorblades whilst I was out on the road. Id like to thank all the various stage, sound, and light techs from all of the venues who have contributed their creativity and expertise in helping to make the shows happen. Too many to mention by name but, really, thank you. And Patty, Neil OBrien, Dolores, Alex, Lorenzo, Etienne, Robert Mills, Marcus Birro, Bernardo, Rui, & St. Paulo, Eve & Nana, and everyone else who helped put the tour together. All the promoters that took a chance by booking my show - thankfully most of which paid off but sadly, a few who took a hit. Thanks for putting your necks on the line for me. And lastly, but of course not least, Id like to thank everyone that came along to the shows, whether it was just one show or, as in some cases, 5-6-7 or more. For all those of you that traveled to support me and for all those of you that bought Songs Of Candlelight & Razorblades......thank you. Its been a blast. Lets do if all again sometime, eh? Until then its back to my day job, news of which we will be announcing on Friday, later this week. Cheerio for now. Love, Wayne X
