From ZJ Coach Alena Groopman via the Forum Live last week: I think that there is SO MUCH MORE to a rhythm-specific ZIN Jam Session than only 2 choreos. So here is my perspective for experienced instructors: Yes, you have been teaching for years and KNOW the moves for Salsa, Cumbia and Reggaeton. However, as we grow and change as instructors, so do our core steps and VARIATIONS! Believe me! I have attended SO many B1 Trainings so I thought I KNEW everything to do with these core steps and variations. But I forgot the fact that we as instructors change and grow and adapt and create our own variations that we THINK are the variations from our core steps chart. But RELEARNING those core steps and their TRUE variations BLEW MY MIND!!! I had no idea how much more I could give to my choreography routines, students and classes. After teaching almost 10 rhythm-specific ZIN Jam Sessions to date, I am STILL re-learning about weight shifting, arm placement, hip rotation and MORE! There is so much more to learn that just choreography at a ZIN Jam Session. My classes (and even Choreo ZIN Jam Sessions) have improved ever since I started working on rhythm-specific sessions since I now think even more about the real variations, especially the fitness variations, of each core step and movement. My progressions and better, my variations are cleaner and my classes FEEL THE DIFFERENCE. MDs next Salsa ZIN Jam (TM) session are: 6/15 in Rockville 7/19 in Chesapeake Beach Sign up TODAY at zumba
