From a PR standpoint, this lawsuit is a complete loser for the Georgia Republican Party. If they settle out of court, the public will assume some or all of the allegations might have been true. If they go to trial, the videotaped depositions (you know, the kind that got Paula Deen in trouble) wont be pretty. Imagine everyone named in the suit being put on the stand, and asked if theyve made racially insensitive or disparaging comments...ever. How is that relevant? Well, your honor, we need to establish a pattern and history of racial remarks that will lend credence to our claims that violations of the Civil Rights Act occurred. Even if the case is dismissed, that news wont receive the same pop in the media as the many headlines that start, Ex-Georgia GOP chair’s aide sues party after allegedly being called a ‘house nigger’ The Georgia GOP cannot win a PR battle with this lawsuit. Its that plain and that simple.
