From a lifelong soldier: On this day in 2001, our nation was viciously attacked by a group of worthless cowards who chose to target innocent, defenseless American citizens. Immediately following that terrible day, our nation came together in a way that we had not seen since Pearl Harbor was attacked in 1941. Real heroes were born in the aftermath in Pennsylvania, New York, Washington DC, and on foreign fields of battle. We spent time with families and friends, our churches were full, and everywhere you looked United States flags were flying. People of different races, religions, and backgrounds came together with a common goal, to try and heal our hurting nation. Then, a stronger nation rose up from the blood, dust, and rubble, and proudly proclaimed that we would not be defeated here or on the battlefield as we reclaimed the freedom that was threatened. Time has passed and we have moved on as a people and a country, and there is a new generation of children who do not even remember that awful day. As you reflect on 9-11-01, take time to watch those old videos online, read the news reports of what happened, and teach your children that we have a very real enemy even today that seeks to destroy our way of life. Most importantly, be in prayer for continued healing for those who lost loved ones 12 years ago and in the war that continues as a result. Be in prayer that we are healed but that we do not forget the feeling we had as we watched in horror when those towers fell and the Pentagon was engulfed in flames. Finally be in prayer that we elect leaders who are capable of seeing to it that something like this never again happens to the greatest nation in history. God Bless, Dennis
