From a post by Lauren Swain in Progressive Democrats of Colorado I attended and testified at the Aurora City Council meeting last night, whereby people were barely given a days notice to attend. Residents, including those who would likely find themselves living close to the new wells, lined up to beg the council to delay their vote on leasing municipal mineral rights and to allow time to tap expert legal and financial counsel and listen to citizens concerns. Not one resident present was asking for an immediate vote. Not only did the Aurora council ignore the pleas of its people, but it voted 7-3 to approve the lease agreements.
