From a rerhi-wala to the Prime Minister, corruption is the essence - TopicsExpress

From a rerhi-wala to the Prime Minister, corruption is the essence of our dealings with other people and the society in general. From financial matters to other obligations, we employ dishonesty and insincerity in our everyday affairs. Everyone is a thief, but the sizes differ. Now in this condition, if someone is fighting for democracy (demos=people=thieves; cracy=rule), he is actually fighting to establish rule of one thief over another. The best case scenario could be that his struggle would replace a bigger thief with a smaller one. To say that some kind of a revolution for the safeguard of democracy can bring a brand-new system in its wake is the same as saying that we can reap wheat after sowing corn. So, to label a struggle of continuation of democracy and present system a virtue is basically hypocritical per se, especially when someone does it in the name of Islam. Why not show some moral integrity and accept that we are not champions of Islamic ideals, and in fact we are just a faction among a bunch of factions striving to grab a bigger share of power within a system that is corrupt to its core? Instead of pretending to change the system while being its beneficiary, why not just admit that we have democratized ourselves, and Islam is just a label to get bearded thieves approval in the form of their votes? There is no shame in admitting that you are a thief when thieves are the only category of people around you.
