From a supporter: The Prop 1 debate has bantered about 74.5% marginal tax rates before deductions vs. outcome taxation totaling 35%, new work on the slope vs. no real new production, planned unit development activity vs.new operator activity which were really the same skewed issue. Verbose argumentation controlled debate to give money to oil companies that say the giveaway wont stop the decline. and to give money to oil companies so they will stop the decline. These good hearted debaters completely off the real point, seemingly illiterate to the reality of three massive pit bulls staring Alaska in the face. The Bush administrations energy policy and oil and gas shortages during the war on terrorism strained supplies and Oil companies made insane profits. that money was used to explore and produce en masse in as many new plays as possible. States, regions and entire countries are now being played against each other by the majors and the new oil glut.. Pricing structure now works in favor of big oil over consumers and owners. The Big 3 are perfectly happy with Alaska producing what it is , because to produce more would put downward pressure on pricing which is all tied into world and regional markets. They dont want to produce more in Alaska, no matter how much money we give them. They want control, and power over all the oil at any cost. Alaskans and especially our legislators need to wake from their oil money coma and understand that its time to take control of our assets and do what is necessary to protect Alaskas future, because big oil WILL NEVER DO THAT FOR US !!!!!! In this respect ACES is the superior choice, and future policies which seek to literally fund exploration and production with State royalties must be considered. Its time to consider that Big Oil is no longer competitive and constitutes an economic hegemony that makes J.P. Morgan look like an amateur. Do we really need oil industry funded commercials telling us we have brains the size...
