From ask.fm/stbcyo QUESTION: Ive heard that worrying means you arent trusting God. So does worrying about something (like a lot) mean Im doing something wrong in my relationship with God? And if I fix that part of my relationship, will the constant worry go away? RESPONSE: God definitely doesnt want you to have worry in your life, but if you do it doesnt necessarily mean youre doing something wrong. Its something that God wants to work out of us over time by PROVING Himself a trustworthy provider. The way past worry is to build a history with God. Its like any relationship - when someone comes through for us time and time again, we learn that we can depend on them to keep their promises. Gods okay with proving Himself to you! Our role in the process is to make decisions based on Gods character rather than making decisions based on fear and worry. This is the hard part, because when were afraid the natural response is to try to control things. If Im worried that my classmate wont finish his part of a project, I might take over and do it myself. If we let worry convince us to take over and do for ourselves what God has promised to do for us, were robbing Him of the chance to prove Himself to us! So sometimes we have to stare worry in the face and say, I wont let you dictate my actions. Im going to trust God to come through on this. Parting thought: when you find yourself worried about something, Gods not disappointed with you. Instead, I think in those moments He sounds a lot like this: https://youtube/watch?v=6koLnpVKBdc
