From beginners’ workshops, to national competitions, to judging school competitions, the Union offers members a huge variety of ways to get involved in debating. For many, a highlight includes the weekly ‘Emergency Debates,’ held prior to the main Thursday night event. Any member can debate in front of a packed audience in the Union chamber on topical subjects ranging from North Korea, to student life, to Thatcher’s legacy, to feminism.
