From community member Winthrop Dada: Attacking intellectuals - TopicsExpress

From community member Winthrop Dada: Attacking intellectuals will beget the end of the empire. Thats what the zealots who ended the Egyptian, Persian, Greek and Roman empires did. Burn the libraries and kill the intellectuals, great idea. About the only plank in your platform that adds up is your dislike of money in politics. Hello Gov. Hickenlooper do you want my vote? My Response: Im not anti-knowledge, Im simply familiar with intellectuals. Im all for using critical thinking to enact real change. Im the only candidate for Governor who puts the words liberty and critical thinking together. Now lets define an intellectual. An intellectual is someone who takes a position on policy without having ANY responsibility for the outcome. They usually decide what we should do without having any political experience. They tend to lean toward the outcome that serves their egos, rather than serving the people at large. As result, intellectuals seldom recommend us any limitations on state power or market freedom (think Michael Moore with a PhD). Since intellectuals are all theory and no practice, they linger in academia as professors. There, they have a ripe audience of young minds, whom, by the way, are just as inexperienced as their professors are at times. Burning libraries and killing intellectuals, as you put it, were actually features of reckless clergies. Governments historically lean toward academic merit for choosing cabinets. My stance on intellectualism is that modeling and theory are ineffective in the real world. The conclusion drawn from intellectual modeling is almost always that we need to increase state power. I believe that a liberty philosophy and critical thinking are the superior way forward. Its abandonment by the American people is what has led to our recent decline. Im sure Obamacare looked great on paper to many intellectuals. Thank you for your comment. All the best, Mike
