From day to day switching from mood to opinion. The Aussie tenant of tollerance on one side and the planet on the other. The mature civilised society that embraces all comers and takes the best from multiculturism to form the peaceful Australia most of us defend and take pride in. Then the Earth screams out for our help while the various religions take it for granted and long for a better place in some imaginary afterlife. So the question arises,how to communicate humanities intrinsic place in nature to the religious? Denominations of catholicism insist that environmental care is based on non-existent entity worship. The abrahamic bunch dont diferentiate nature and gods, they are one and the same. No need to tread lightly or breed less for some god will provide and repair. Forget recycling and green energy its all been given to us for our consumption and disposal. So up to the industrial revolution religions could be viewed by the rational as a pleasant harmless mob or a quaint curious lot, just humour them and we all get along. But the times call for a more Earthcentric paradigm. When our focus needs to be changing for a sustainable long-term plan encompassing environmental concerns, population, consumption, waste, polution and raising our kids the same. If one is living an alternate reality in which god worshipping solves all problems it could truly be perceived as suicidal and pestillent dangerous. This is why non-theists make the only reliable environmentslists. We have the correct relationship with the Universe. Nature is us and we are nature. This is why I am an EARTHLING. I am of the Earth. Nothing has changed since birth.
