From mere aggressive posturing to some quick limited action seems to have now become a distinct possibility in Ladakh. China isnt going to let India have all the peace and quiet to even attempt a catch-up. More than the tangibles, it is Indias newfound confidence, and the Modi driven sentiment-momentum, that it might want to disrupt. Like it did in 1962, when they withdrew to their pre skirmish positions, declaring ceasefire, unilaterally, after delivering a comprehensive humiliation. China clearly wants to scuttle us psychologically. After all, a unipolar leadership of Asia is as much, if not more, about the state of mind of a nations leadership and not just about the size of its economy, geography or military. But, China might do well to remember that 52 years on, Modi is no Nehru and it is the India of 2014.
