From my friend, Nancy Reese: Ive just gotta say it. For the - TopicsExpress

From my friend, Nancy Reese: Ive just gotta say it. For the past few years, whenever the President gave a speech, it left me feeling sad. Same thing tonight. I thought it was a terrific speech. He laid out the Democratic ideas and policies, and dared the Repubs to defy them. He spoke of what we could be as a country....what we should be. He reminded me of why I voted for him, pounded the streets for him, twice. But it breaks my heart to think of what might have been, what could have been, if not for the obstruction of the old Conservatives, shocked that a black man won the WH...the idiocy of the Tea Baggers...and the hatred and fear spread by the Right Wing Noise Machine. Despite it all, he has accomplished much. But we could have done more. He has hopes to do more, but I have no faith that the Repubs will finally begin working for the American people. Their pockets are lined with the money from those intent on putting the final nail in our democracy and establishing an oligarchy, plutocracy...whatever you want to call it. And they have all signed that damn pledge...the Norquist Pledge...to never raise taxes. And they are determined to honor that Pledge, despite their Oaths of Office, in fear of losing that financial backing. They are a danger to this country. They took us to the economic brink. They would have us in constant war. They refuse to accept the perils of climate change. They continue to pollute our environment. They fight equality. They have no morals, no conscience. Feel no obligation to work for the common good. And Ive just gotta say it. Whether it be the greedy top 1%, the crazy gun nuts, the so-called fake Christians or the ignorant fools still waiting for trickle down economics to work for them...I hate them. I cant help it. And until they change, until they come around, and decide to work together to make this country what it professes to be, I wont feel guilty about it. The President is more hopeful than I. He still believes in the goodness of most. Still believes he can convince the opposition to do the right thing. I am not sure. Not sure at all. And it makes me sad.
