From my niece, Shannon: Why were on strike. *sigh* The government is saving loads of money with teachers on strike and has no reason to negotiate... Ethics, legality, blah blah, mean nothing to them, but the non-teaching public means votes for the next round of elections. Thats the only currency Christy deals in, so parents and all others, please do make some noise to help end this. Write the letters, honk at the teachers, sign the petitions. Let Christy know that her voting public is disgusted by this. My district is making a list of whats been cut in the last 20 years (everthing from outdoor ed and resource lending libraries to speech pathologists and counsellors), and it is 4 single-spaced pages long and growing. The provincial budget does NOT count as `balanced` when its the result of gutting public education.
