From my reading, How amazingly different Pauls method of provoking the Jews to jealousy, from that pursued by many Jewish mission workers today! The Jew must have a special place as a Jew! In some quarters they are even organizing Jewish assemblies, and in other quarters advocating the literary method of approaching Israel! All this, we cannot but feel, is abominable kow-towing to Jewish FLESH, and hinders their salvation. Jews are now common sinners, who have for the present been set aside nationally, and must come to rely, as individual sinners, hopelessly guilty and helpless, upon the shed blood of Christ, and upon Him risen from the dead. It is an awful thing to make present day Jewish claims, when God says Jews are, for the present, NO DIFFERENT FROM GENTILES, before God: but are just - sinners! (William R. Newell, Commentary on Romans, note on p. 417 about v. 11:12) I wholeheartedly agree. In this age, we are told that the middle wall of partition has been broken down, and that there is no difference between the Jew and the Gentile from a guilt and salvation standpoint. Local churches are supposed to be made up of Jews and Gentiles both, if both have been saved by the blood of the Lamb. There is nothing to be gained by trying to segregate out all-Jewish local churches (unless, of course, thats who the population of people being saved is made up of!), or of trying to appeal to the Jews by means of keeping Sabbath, keeping the festivals, or otherwise giving credence to the Law as a means of helping to salvation. The Jew has already had the Law - and was unable to be saved by it! The Jews gets saved the same way as the Gentile - by repenting of sin and calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation.
