From one artist dude from ello.co // https://ello.co/jeremygratton : Today, Ive decided to make an effort to support somebody elses art. It is a simple thing really. When I think about the money I waste on mundane things, I see no reason why I cannot spend a little to brighten somebodys day, especially when Im getting something in return. The goal is to make an impact though. Therefore, I will not rush out to purchase that new best-seller. They are already doing well. No, today I will support someone on more of an independent level, someone that might notice and feel good about the occurrence. Ive taken the liberty to list a few ways to show support for artists below. Not all of the actions listed allow the artist to know that it was you that supported them, but if they are independent, they will notice that it happened, and most likely feel good about it. Some ways cost money and others are completely free. Costs Money Purchase an album, book, or painting from an artist via their personal site. Purchase digital books for your Kindle, Nook, or iPad. Purchase music from an artist via iTunes or whatever digital service you use. Buy merchandise (if they offer it) from their site. Support a Kickstarter campaign. There are lots of other sites that run campaigns as well. Completely Free Leave a nice comment on their site for everyone to see. Write a really nice email about the artists work and send it to them via their site. If they have a reviews section somewhere, write them a nice review. Sign up for their mailing list. If you stream the music you listen to, use a site that pays artists. A sudden rush of blood to my head, if youre a struggling artist or just want people to hear your stuff. Thought Id share this dudes cause :). Quite simple and bright. Like a good day.
