From other source..... . Robin van Persie admits he has not been good enough for Manchester United this season and must raise his level to earn a new deal. Van Persie, who plundered 30 goals in his first season at United following his £24million move from Arsenal, has managed just eight from 21 appearances this term. The 31-year-old has 18 months of his current deal to run and was honest enough to admit he does not know whether boss Louis van Gaal will hand him an extension, despite their close working relationship. United have failed to ignite under Van Gaal following last seasons disaster under former boss David Moyes, with van Persie acknowledging his own failings this term and the need for him to improve. “I think everyone in the team is responsible,” said Van Persie. “Everyone feels responsible. I do, definitely. “This year Ive played something like 20 games and Ive scored eight goals. Im not happy with that. I want to score more. “Ill do everything, every day in training and during the games Ill keep doing what Ive been doing for the last 10 years to make those goals. “In my last couple of games I didnt score. But I know what I have to do to create those opportunities and Ill keep doing that. At the moment, its not enough. I know that. “Were not scoring enough goals, including me. I have to be honest. Ill do everything I can to improve that.” Van Persies current deal has 18 months to run and the forward, who will turn 32 in August, admitted he is unsure whether he will be handed a contract extension. “Its not up to me,” said Van Persie. “For the moment Im staying here for 18 months. Thats it, really. I cant look into the futu I dont know whats going to happen after that. We shall have to wait and see.” Van Persie admitted the mood in the United camp was bleak after last Fridays 0-0 draw away to League Two Cambridge United in the FA Cup. But with Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Southampton all going out at the weekend, Van Persie said Uniteds players had renewed motivation to beat Cambridge in the replay a week today. “After the game against Cambridge, everyone was a little bit down,” said Van Persie. “But on Saturday the whole mood changed. “Manchester City were out, Chelsea were out and suddenly were in it with a home tie against Cambridge. And of the so-called big clubs, with how it is now, its just us, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham. “Were the highest left in the competition. So does that make us favourite? I dont know. But Im very happy that we are in it. I think its vital [to win it], especially with this cup. Its been 11 years since United won it last, which was actually one of the first things Sir Alex Ferguson said as well. “He said I want to win that cup and I think we have a big chance this year. We want to win it. But again, we have to look at the first game only, because that is against Cambridge.” Van Persie worked under Van Gaal with Holland and is convinced his compatriot will take United back to the top with the 63-year-olds much-heralded philosophy. “Ive known him for over two years now,” said Van Persie. “I know how he works. We believe in him and I know how he works. “Him, his coaching staff and we as players are trying everything we can to win games. Not only win games, but to win them in a nice way as well. Thats a process. In that process we have to be honest and give everything we can. “Of course, games against Cambridge dont really help, because for everyone in the world, we should have won 4-0 or 5-0. It depends whether or not the ball falls for us, but we have to create our own luck and work even harder. We are confident it will change.” *Robin Van Persie was speaking at the launch of Swissquote, Manchester Uniteds first global Official Forex and Online Trading Partner.
