From our 1960-61 Narbonne High School annual. Rick Griffin wrote this and drew a picture of himself for Susie Lucas. (dont let anyone else tell you that Rick drew a picture of them, this is Rick drawing Rick... there are posers out there still) I spoke with Susie this week and asked if I could share this. She said OK. Maybe youre wondering what Pevos means? Susie asked me that this week! Lomas was Pacheco for Lomita where we went to Jr. High, so Torrance Beach became Tormas and Palos Verdes, where we were going to do our Senior year, was Pevos. We often just called it PV so Pevos worked... got it, my Homies? Wilmas was Wilmington. Susie had two brothers, Brian, who was older, and Dewey who was younger. Brian died in training as a pilot during the Viet Nam war. I discovered some Super 8mm movies of Brian and Evan Anderson and Tom Constable, converted and restored them and invited Susie up... Rick Griffin is in the movies too. Heres a photo of Tom, Susie, Evan and Tita Tavares from that viewing day. Brian is dearly missed. We became Water Uncles and Aunts to Rick-ie Griffin, Ricks daughter that was born after Rick had died.
