From our grantees at Peppertree: KYLIE was so very sick that a Georgia Shelter had put her on the euthanasia list. She had only a day or so left. That is, if her illnesses didnt end her life earlier. One of our Peppertree dog evaluators in Georgia thought she was well worth saving and offered to get her to a Vet. The Shelter agreed, provided that a rescue group committed to taking her. So Peppertree threw her the lifeline she needed and agreed to take her. KYLIES condition stabilized in Georgia and although still ill, she was transported North to Peppertree. When she arrived we got to meet an adorable 6 year old Shepherd-Rottie mix. We wasted no time in getting her to our Vet for an evaluation. She had a myriad of conditions, including kennel cough, heartworm disease, liver problems, thyroid problems and the need for a spay once everything else had improved . It was quite a long stay at the Vet (thanks to The DDAF for providing funds for her care) but soon she turned a corner and started to improve. KYLIE was ready for a foster home. However we soon found out that she exhibited fear aggression towards some other dogs. She loved people, she really loved children, but was fearful and quite iffy around other dogs. Since almost all of our foster homes have resident dogs it was quite a challenge to find a place for KYLIE to stay and she did spend a good deal of time in boarding while waiting for a no other dog home for her to reside. In the meantime, Peppertree volunteers Cassie and Alissa enrolled KYLIE in a Canine Good Citizen program and she passed with flying colors earning her CGC certificate. After 4 months with Peppertree KYLIE struck gold when volunteer Cassie contacted a young family looking for a dog. It was time for a meet and greet. Nicole and Keith P. and their two young boys were a perfect fit for KYLIE. She loved kids so much and a big fenced in yard gave KYLIE and the boys plenty of room to play! KYLIE had found her forever home. Nicole reports: Our family is complete now. KYLIE is amazing and we all love her so much. She fits in perfectly here and is very spoiled. Its like she has always been here. When KYLIE came to us we fell in love with her right away. She loves to snuggle with you and Im pretty sure she thinks shes a lap dog sometimes. One of her absolute favorite things is to play ball. She is outside a lot playing ball with me or Keith or the boys. We have a nice fenced in yard also, and she loves to run around like a crazy girl. Inside, she follows us around from room to room and the boys share Cheerios with her We are so thankful to have KYLIE in our lives. She loves everyone and is just a wonderful girl. My husband and I are so happy that our children are able to experience the love of having a pet. We have such great memories of our pets growing up and are so grateful that our boys will have that as well. We would really like to thank Peppertree for allowing us the opportunity to adopt KYLIE. We love her so much! If you would like to help DDAF with our mission to help animals in need, please consider clicking the Donate button at the top of our page
