From our partners at VTrans The end of the Fourth of July weekend means the beginning of more summertime fun and lots of outdoor activities. Our lush green mountains attract people from all over the world. From hiking and walking to horseback riding and motorcycle tours, Vermont roads will come alive with seasonal activity. Road construction is back in action with new projects that will add more work zones to watch for. I-89 bridge work will continue in Milton. Expect reduced speeds and restricted lane use. A lane closure in Williston for guard rail work southbound at MM 84.9 will slow traffic. Paving at night between Richmond and Colchester continues from 7pm to 6am Sunday through Thursday. Paving between Berlin and Brookfield will include scarified pavement. Delays should be expected. I-91 has three projects affecting traffic this week. Paving in the north and southbound lanes between St. Johnsbury and Lyndon will slow traffic between Exits 23 and 21. Delays should be expected. In Windsor a bridge project directs northbound traffic into the southbound lane with a reduced speed limit. In Brattleboro bridge work between Exits 2 and 3 relocates northbound traffic to the southbound bridge. Drivers should expect delays in this work zone. VT 108 in Enosburg will see paving and drainage work over a five-mile stretch that will slow traffic. VT 105 in Richford features a paving project extending to the Canadian border. Short delays should be expected. VT 105 in St. Albans is closed between the St. Albans Messenger building and Seymour Road for a realignment project. US 2 from Colchester to Alburgh is being paved. Drivers should expect delays in this work zone. US 2 from Burlington to South Burlington is being realigned by the Sheraton Hotel. VT 15 in Hyde Park will require slower traffic for a box culvert installation. VT 12 between Elmore and Morristown includes a six-mile paving project that will create one-way traffic. US 5 between Lyndon and St. Johnsbury will be down to one lane because of a paving project. Delays should be expected especially during the afternoon commute. US 2 between Waterbury and Bolton will see alternating one-lane traffic for a paving project. Drivers should expect delays. RT 14 in Barre Town is having a culvert replaced in Jockey Hollow. Drivers should expect a 25 mph speed restriction. RT 73 in Rochester will have multiple bridge projects active in July. Drivers should expect road closures in these work zones. Check rmw.vtransprojects.vermont.gov for detour information. VT 107 between Stockbridge and Bethel will see a roadway improvement project this week. VT 12 in Barnard remains closed for a bridge project. In Rutland, night work on Woodstock Avenue continues from 6pm to 6am. The sidewalk project will slow traffic in that work zone. Signal work will require lane closures along South Main Street. US 5 will experience traffic delays in Hartland at two separate bridge projects. Drivers should expect delays in these work zones. US 5 in Putney and VT 123 in Westminster will both see delays because of paving. VT 131 will be closed at the Whitesville Bridge for about one month. VT 100 between Jamaica and Londonderry will experience traffic delays for a paving project. VT 9 in Marlboro at the Brattleboro town line a detour around a bridge project.
