From reading the posts down here, Democrats think Republicans are religious fanatics that ignore science when it contradicts their religion, and try to force their religion on others. Republicans think Democrats are lazy losers that think they can make their lives better by taking money without working for it. These stereotypes are definitely true for a small percentage of both parties. But from a personal observation, the majority of my Republican friends are Engineers and very good at analyzing data. Most range between agnostic and atheist with a couple of friends that believe in a God, but don’t pretend to know what their God wants for your life. The majority of my Democrat friends are hard working and believe that people should earn their money and charity should be voluntary. Ironically it is my Republican friends that think there should be a minimal welfare system. My Democrat friends are more likely to argue that people have a right to keep what they earn. Also it is overwhelmingly the Republicans that think we should let corporations and banks fail, allowing them to be bought out by successful , well run corporations. While the Democrats think that too many people will lose their jobs if large corporations fail. Bailing out banks and corps is the pinnacle of corporate welfare. This makes me wonder if these debate areas on Facebook attract the most fanatical members of both parties.
