From reporter Leslie Streeter: One of my privileges as a reporter - TopicsExpress

From reporter Leslie Streeter: One of my privileges as a reporter is to be trusted with telling the stories of extraordinary people more brave and special than I could ever be. One of those was Mikahissa Coty, who when we featured her in the Palm Beach Posts Season To Share in 2012 was a stylish and funny 13-year-old who gradually lost her eyesight to a brain tumor, remaining upbeat as her single dad, originally from Haiti, supported them on a cooks salary and her grandmother, whod moved to the States to care for her, tended to her. I found out this morning that this amazing little girl passed away on Mothers Day. I am heartbroken for her family, for the staff at St. Marys Pediatric Oncology Support Team, and for humanity, because we need to learn from her fight. She was fierce, yall - the first thing she said to me was Do you like my purse? Humbled and proud to have met her. Cancer is the worst thing in the world. Please somebody cure it. Its taken too many good people. But we know Heaven is a little more stylish today.
