From start to finish - another successful GGS! Great thanks go to Julian Carr, Stacey Green, Mollie Bednarowski, Marie Baker, Mitzi Schneider, Frank Bartholomew Tinasra, Joanita Aguiar, Mercia Russell, Mesdames Mopkins and Lance (for all his support and putting up with the chaos!) Next months event will be upon us soon. We are scheduled for June 21 due to the start of Ramadan. We need to decide, collectively, if we will do 1000 bags again or 500. We currently have available enough sweet, salty and candy/gum to do 500 bags. As always we need juice! After the issues this month with the fruit - it is getting too hot to get reliably fresh fruit here - we have decided that we will add 2 juices to the bag instead of fruit - the cost is about the same and there is no waste when we buy juice. We have 208 juices now - for 500 bags we will need another 792 juice boxes - thats about 30 cases of juice. For 1000 bagels we would need about 70 cases. This brings me to the next hurdle. How do we spread the word about what we are doing and get people to go from liking what we do to helping us do it? If 50 people each bought a case of juice (2BD for a case of pineapple juice at Geant - I just checked last night) the burden is low and the impact is high. We are open to suggestions.
