From the AACOFD regarding Mondays Dwelling Fire in Brooklyn Park..... Arrest Made in 7/14/14 Brooklyn Park Dwelling Fire Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department’s Fire/Arson Investigation Unit have determined that Monday’s fire in Brooklyn Park was incendiary and intentional in nature. On July, 14th, around 7:00 a.m., Fire Investigators responded to assist firefighters at a dwelling fire in the unit block of Ballman Court. Firefighters had been alerted to the fire just after 6:30 and brought a basement fire under control with 28 firefighters in approximately 25 minutes. As a result of the fire, a 22 year old male burn patient had been sent John Hopkins Burn Center, three occupants were displaced and $38,000 damage was done to the structure and contents. Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be incendiary and intentional in nature. Fire Investigators quickly identified a suspect and he was detained at the scene for further investigation. During the course of investigation, the suspect admitted to starting the fire with the intent of injuring the victim. The suspect, Xavien Neal Pinkney, 23, of Brooklyn Park was subsequently arrested and charged with: attempted first degree murder, arson first degree, malicious burning first degree (two counts), malicious burning second degree, reckless endangerment (two counts) and destruction of property. The suspect remains in custody at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on a No Bond Status. ###
