From the Alliance for Quality Education: Were down to the final hours of budget negotiations, and were hearing that $1.1 billion will be in the budget for school aid. While this is less than what we were calling for, it is imperative that this aid is distributed fairly to schools. Last year the Gap Elimination Adjustment restoration involved 11 different formulas, which means it was highly manipulated to serve the political needs of some legislators. We need ONE fair formula - the Foundation Aid Formula. Right now! Email your Senators and Assemblymembers - calling on them to eliminate the GEA and distribute school aid fairly through the Foundation Aid Formula. Failing to distribute school aid fairly will produce an even wider opportunity gap between New York States students. This isnt right! All students have the right to a quality education, and it starts with fair funding to schools. Take action now to stop the unfair distribution through the GEA and call on your Senators and Assemblymembers to distribute school aid through the Foundation Aid Formula! In solidarity, Billy Easton, Executive Director of the Alliance for Quality Education
