From the Appeal Democrat: Yuba-Sutter Chamber turns to TV show to promote tourism Chris Kaufman/Appeal-Democrat Yuba-Sutter will be featured on an upcoming national TV show in an effort to promote local tourism. The Yuba Sutter Chamber of Commerce is securing locations for filming this week, and the show will air several times starting in June and running through the fall. This is all part of our visitors and tourism effort, said Rikki Shaffer, CEO of the Yuba-Sutter Chamber of Commerce. Shaffer said its a concentrated marketing campaign being done simultaneously with a series of national and international print ads. The print ads in USA Todays GoEscape magazine are running and others are planned in Food and Travel Magazine. The Sutter Buttes, Mary Aaron Museum, Bok Kai Temple, Yuba River, local wineries, Bullards Bar Reservoir, Gray Lodge Wildlife Area, Plumas Lake Golf & Country Club and the Flying U Rodeo will be some of the featured items on the show. The show, CrossWest Adventures on Altitude TV, is available on DirecTV channel 681 and Dish channel 410. The 30-minute long show will include a 10-minute segment on Yuba-Sutter. Shaffer said there are more regionally targeted marketing efforts as well. Were supporting local businesses by advertising local events in surrounding areas like Redding and Fresno, said Shaffer, adding theyve advertised as far away as the Bay Area. To support all of these efforts, four associations have been created, she said: A Tourism Committee, a Hospitality Association, a Visitors Committee and a Vintners Association. The key thing for me is we have things that are really worth traveling for, and now were opening it up to a national audience, Steven Dambeck said. Were letting people know were worth a visit, Dambeck will be featured on the show talking about local wineries. Also, when we see ourselves on TV it helps us see ourselves in a fresh role and how great it really is here, Dambeck said.
