From the CA this morning: The argument between Joe Brown, - TopicsExpress

From the CA this morning: The argument between Joe Brown, candidate for district attorney, and the Juvenile Court and his subsequent arrest was a setup by Brown. Look at this picture. You have a person, Joe Brown, running for local office, needs publicity and just happens to get into an argument with a relative of his opposing candidate. Brown knows not to argue with the court. Anyway, an attorney of his stature representing a parent in Juvenile Court has a fishy smell to me. Former Mayor Willie Herenton used this tactic quite successfully in his re-election campaigns. Inflame the black voter with how he has been mistreated. The black Memphis voters have elected and re-elected their candidates not necessarily based on qualifications, but on their desire to go against the system that appears to have maligned their candidate. If Amy Weirich loses the district attorney’s election after the job she has done in a short period of time, that will speak volumes for Memphis and their efforts to fight crime. I followed Herenton’s advice many years ago and left Memphis and Shelby County, but it still amazes me how Memphis politics works. Why would a competent person want to get into it? To make a difference? It is not going to happen.
