From the City of Tucson: The monsoon storms that affected the eastern side of Tucson on the afternoon of July 20, 2012 resulted in several downed power lines, primarily in the areas surrounding the intersections of South Houghton Road and East Irvington Road as well as South Harrison Road and East Irvington Road. At this time, southbound traffic at the intersection of South Houghton Road and East Irvington Road will be entirely restricted. Southbound traffic on South Houghton Road, approaching the intersection, will be directed westbound. Similarly, all eastbound traffic on East Irvington Road will be restricted starting at South Harrison Road. The public is encouraged to avoid the area if at all possible or expect detours and extended delays. Residents of the Civano Neighborhood will only be able to access their subdivision, coming and going, from the southern part of the neighborhood. The Tucson Police Department has established a command post to assist area residents as needed. It will be located on the northwestern quadrant of South Houghton Road and East Irvington Road, next to the QuikMart. Expect to see uniformed officers conducting point control at the intersections of South Houghton Road and East Irvington Road as well as South Harrison Road and East Irvington Road until the power lines have been repaired. The officers will be facilitating traffic flow in the area. Should you need to travel through the area, be sure to watch out for the officers and follow any direction that they give you. Tucson Electric Power has crews working to repair the damaged power lines and restore service to the area residents. At this time, they estimate that they will have most, if not all, of the lines repaired and service restored by 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013.
