From the Desk of Jen Botha Thinking aloud with my pen……. Daily devotions 4/2014 27 January – 1 February 2014 Good morning to you all, I trust that you have had a good weekend and that you have been blessed this past week I look forward to the week ahead, and thank you all for journeying with me through the week. God bless and keep you all in the palm of His hand Love always Jen Monday – 27 January 2014 Reading: Psalm 64: 1 O God, You are my God; I shall earnestly seek You. My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You. Reflection: This is a Psalm of David. And in this Psalm he expresses his love for the Lord in very explicit ways. David acknowledges God as his God. This indicates a very personal relationship with God in a very real way. He has come to know God as the God who loves him, the God who looks after him, and the God who cares for him. He does not rely on the blessing of the day before, he earnestly seeks God every day. He takes the time to spend with God to get to know Him. This is an example that we need to follow. We need to take the time to spend with God every day. In the same way that David expresses his hunger and thirst for God, we need to find that place within ourselves every day. We do not eat once a week and then pretend that we are full for the rest of the week, and the same applies to our spiritual life. We cannot only live on one service a week, and then get to know God in the same intimate way. We need to spend time with Him every day. I know that this is difficult in our busy lives. If you do not have time to really sit and pray, then will you please try to just spend one minute with God every day. Just one minute to express your love and devotion to God. To thirst for Him. David at another occasions says, better in one day in the house of the Lord than a thousand elsewhere. As we draw near to God, He will draw near to us, and we will experience His love surrounding us every day. Breath-prayer: Father, this morning I just want to lift my hands and thank you for your grace, mercy and love. In Jesus name, Amen.
