There were over 114,000 signers on that vital petition! Following last night’s State of the Union message, Senator Lindsey Graham called out Speaker Boehner for failing to establish a Select Committee, stating that he is baffled by the Speaker’s reluctance to do so. We believe it is time for Speaker Boehner to do the right thing on behalf of the American people and the families of the victims. Please see my important update below – Mat. I have tremendous respect for Speaker of the House John Boehner, but like Senator Lindsey Graham, I am perplexed by his unwillingness to commission a Select Committee to get to the bottom of the Benghazi debacle once and for all. I stand in unison with a clear majority of Americans, over 114,000 friends of Liberty Counsel Action, 180 Members of the House of Representatives, numerous Senators, scores of military-based organizations, and the families of Benghazi’s victims in declaring it’s well past time for the Speaker to take action and establish a House Select Committee! It’s the only way to have a coordinated, thorough investigation of the events surrounding the deadly Benghazi scandal and the Obama administration’s cover-up. Yesterday, we delivered our Investigate Benghazi petitions to the offices of Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Chairman Darrell Issa of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and to Congressman Frank Wolf. ++Senator Lindsey Graham is calling out Speaker Boehner. As reported by Politico, Senator Graham is among a growing number of officials openly wondering why the Speaker is avoiding the creation of a powerful committee that would be able to shed light on a multitude of unanswered questions about the Benghazi attacks. Here’s what Graham said to Politico’s reporter last night… “‘I’m very disappointed in the speaker. I love him dearly but why the House doesn’t put a joint select committee together is just baffling to me. Where is he? We’re going to do everything possible to get the Congress to do a Joint Select Committee. The [Senate] Intelligence [Committee] report was helpful but they didn’t answer any questions about why the CIA for two weeks didn’t correct the President when he talked about a protest. Where was the head of the CIA and the intelligence community when President Obama was talking about a protest that never existed two weeks after the attack? So you have the Intelligence Community blaming the State Department, State Department’s blaming the Intelligence Community, and DOD is kind of falling through the cracks. That’s why I think you need a joint Select Committee.” ++There is still no accountability on Benghazi. It’s been sixteen months since the 9/11/12 attacks on our Benghazi facilities, and to date there is zero accountability either on the part of our attackers or from the Obama administration. Meanwhile, the administration’s roadblocks have only intensified as the months roll on!
