From the Front Lines ~ Young man comes in and we are closed for a community gathering taking place in a few hours and I invite him to join with us. As we talk I share the concept of the cafe, Rudolf Steiner, and Waldorf and he says Hey! I went to Waldorf! :) He then began to recite this verse by heart, he is 31 years old: The sun with loving light Makes bright for me each day. The soul with spirit power Gives strength unto my limbs. In the sunlight shining clear, I reverence, O God, The strength of humankind Which Thou, so graciously, Hast planted in my soul, That I with all my might May love to work and learn. From Thee come light and strength, To thee rise love and thanks. I look into the world In which the sun is shining In which the stars are sparkling In which the stones repose. Where living plants are growing Where sentient beasts are living Where human souls on earth Give dwelling to the spirit. I look into the soul, That lives within my being The World Creator weaves In sunlight and in soul light, In world space there without In soul depths here within. To Thee Creator Spirit I will now turn my heart To ask that strength and blessing For learning and for work May ever grow within me. I was a bit stunned at how beautifully he spoke and his deep and noble heart pouring forth throughout the whole conversation about his love for humanity and the history thereof. I have this sense out of the conversation that we had to find one another so I could hear what he was sharing regarding the archetype and stereotype and the difference. Just a stunning young man. He shared how as the higher grade in school they would go out to the farm in Kimberton, where the Waldorf school is that he attended, and they would recite a verse from Goethes Faust and welcome the beginning kindegarden class as was done for them too when they were in the kindy grades. Breadth and Depth and Love, yes, this is what I experienced streaming towards me and a great kindliness.... difficult days these days and yet bam! new life to bear me through in love.... one to the other
