From the National Weather Service... it was indeed a EF-1 scale Tornado that touched down this morning. NWS states that it began in the Chesapeake Bay, a few miles west of Cherrystone Campground. The tornado then continued eastward across Old Cherrystone Road and US Route 13, before lifting near Seaside Road close to the Northampton Landfill. Estimated maximum wind speed was 80 to 100 mph, with a path width of 150 yards and the length of approx. 8 miles.. some of that over water.
