From the Pastor’s Heart: “Iron sharpens iron, so one man - TopicsExpress

From the Pastor’s Heart: “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17) The process of sharpening iron is threefold. It requires filing (with iron), a whetstone and sanding. Focusing on the initial phase enables us to apply it to our Christian walk. A standard metal file is used, set at about a 30 to 35 degree angle, to file the edge of the blade. The filing is typically done in slow, measured strokes until a rough, sharp edge has been revealed on the blade. Since iron is softer (more malleable) than steel, only a handful of file strokes are needed. It is that like substance that helps to create the change in the iron. Likewise, it is the Christian Brother or Sister, that can best hold us accountable and reveal to us our rough edges. However, we must be mindful to be measured in our critiques because most often only a few strokes are needed. Learn to be receptive of your Godly critics. They will serve to sharpen your walk with God. Receive the blessing of God.
