From the Press -> Co-op Soccer Report DIVISION 4 — Christian/Lutheran never slowed down Sheboygan Christian and Sheboygan Lutheran are in their third year together in a co-op soccer program. The arrangements worked out well. Christian/Lutheran soared undefeated in the Central Lakeshore Conference last year to claim the leagues championship, pushing aside Oostburg, which had gone to the state tournament the year before. The team maintained its poise this year despite losing a few of last years strongmen, including star goalkeeper Eddie Windsor. It breezed through its CLC regimen in the regular season again to take a second straight conference title, then grabbed a No. 2 seed in its D4 bracket. I think we can play with any team, coach Perry Phillips said, noting the team targeted making it to State when it outlined its goals at the beginning of the season. Sometimes it comes down to a bounce or a little bit of luck and, you know, we just see what happens. I think we have the potential, if things fall our way, to do very well. Still, Phillips noted Kettle Moraine Lutheran will be no slouch today, noting the Chargers come into the match with a No. 3 ranking — just a spot behind Christian/Lutherans No. 2 — in the latest Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Associations Division 4 poll. Were taking it one game at a time, hopefully well make it to State, senior forward Graham Ver Velde said this week. Thats our highest goal right now. Kettle Moraine Lutheran (19-2) will host Christian/Lutheran (19-1-2) at 4 p.m. today. Our goal this year was to continuously improve and get better, coach Perry Phillips said this week. And right now were kind of peaking at the best weve been playing all year, and Im really, really pleased with that.
