From the Seattle Humans Services Coalition endorsement of Seattle Parks for All: No matter where you live in the city, Proposition 1 will deliver needed improvements, providing major maintenance at parks across the city, funds for community center staffing and programs for seniors and kids, as well as supporting the addition of new parkland in underserved areas and to meet increased demand. See the OpEd in favor of the levy in the Sunday Seattle Times. Prop 1 was proposed by a Seattle Parks citizens committee and is endorsed by Mayor Murray – as well as all five preceding mayors – and Prop 1 has the unanimous support of the City Council as well. Proposition 1 will replace an expiring levy, and this dedicated parks district funding will cost the owner of a typical $400,000 only about $4 a month more than what they are currently paying.
