From the U.S. Department of Labor newsletter: The Office of Personnel Management reports that hiring of people with disabilities in the federal government is on the rise. In Fiscal Year 2013, the federal government hired people with disabilities at the highest rate in 33 years. Among all new hires in fiscal year 2013, 18 percent were people with disabilities, representing a 1.9 percent annual increase. The report is prepared each year under a 2010 executive order by President Obama, who directed federal agencies to increase the recruitment, hiring and retention of people with disabilities. The Office of Disability Employment Policy helps implement the order using resources and activities such as the Workforce Recruitment Program and eFedLink.
