From the WaltonTribune Candidates in final push for council seat Early candidates Chuck Bagley and Jay Boland. Posted: Sunday, June 9, 2013 12:00 am By Robbie Schwartz Early voting for the vacant Loganville Council seat is under way and will conclude June 14. Candidates Chuck Bagley and Jay Boland are in the final push for the June 18 election to not only get their message out to voters but also to get voters to the polls. The dividing line has been drawn in Bagley’s experience as a past city councilman and county commissioner and Boland’s experience as a citizen, not a politician. “Here we are at the countdown and I’m still out there making personal contacts, public appearances, telephone calls, sending e-mails and mailing brochures. The remaining two weeks will require more of the same: walking neighborhoods and stressing voter turnout,” Bagley said. “I know and love the people of Loganville and understand their needs and desires for a happy and safe place for their families to live, work and play. I also understand the needs of our senior citizens who sometimes get forgotten. I will be a full-time councilman accountable to you, the citizens of Loganville. “Experience. Knowledge. Time. These are the main differences in the two candidates and I have all of them.” Boland is a self-employed advertising executive and running for his first political office. “From day one I have been energized by this campaign and have been having a great time meeting the residents of Loganville,” he said. “I have enjoyed the time they took out of their day to chat with me about what’s on their mind. The campaign has been going well and I recently sent out postcards reminding residents to vote. “Going forward, I will continue to hit the streets. And I am telling potential voters to separate me from my opponent is that I offer a fresh face that people can relate to. I am a down to earth, common sense family man that became an informed citizen that now wants to become a more involved citizen in our city’s future.” The called election is the result of former councilman Dan Curry resigning from his post to run for mayor following the resignation of Ray Nunley. Curry was the only person to qualify for the mayoral post on the June 18 ballot. Early voting will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at City Hall. Voting for the June 18 called election will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rock Gym, 175 Main St., Loganville.
