From the Westminster area of London, I have this to report. The World Is Your Stage Workshop is an incredibly powerful experience, perhaps THE most powerful experience of my life. I was honored to participate and thrilled to engage in the life-altering exercises. The bonus? Many of my pals and two of my longest standing and dearest friends, Sharon Doty and Cathy Boudreaux Roussel, were in the workshop with me! One of the most inspiring moments of my life was being able to interact with Werner Erhard in an inquiry, the result of which completely rearranged my view of the thing referred to as me and of my place in this world. After the conversation, my shoulders dropped from my ears, my voice softened, and I saw, really saw, people in the room. The opportunity, possibility, and privilege of showing up is present for me in a very powerful way. From that alone, I will never be the same. Ever. Stage theater actors gave up their weekends to be with us, work with us, and coach us. Sheer joy being with our amazing coaches and learning about their art and craft! I worked with the most brilliant understudy, one Roman Menyakin, who so captured the character I was playing that I actually saw how I seem in reality, especially my walk!!! (No wonder some people have been afraid of me!) And I got to understudy him .. and learn to speak with a Russian accent! (Someone told me tonight that we won the unofficial prize for best understudy team. Well take it!) During the exercises, I was shocked and moved by who people are, who I am, and my response to all of us. I started using a muscle I did not know I had, a muscle for compassion for myself. And I created a space for grace to become part of my life, that is, a willingness to be open to that which I have not earned, deserved, nor suffered for. Wow. Who knew that could happen over three days with 150 people from such diverse countries and backgrounds? And now. Now. Who I am really had the great fun creating Act III in Cathys Life Story. I am being vibrant, vulnerable, vital and available! I love it. And I love you.
