[From the amazing Dr. Margaret Flowers] Wow - amazing to see the spin - they attribute the decrease in health spending to families choosing to cut back on out of pocket spending rather than the reality that higher co-pays and deductibles force families to make difficult choices between health care and food or housing. Self-rationing for necessary care puts patients at risk for worse problems. And they write that newly insured patients are using more health services as if these patients are greedy consumers wanting more and more instead of recognizing that we have significant unmet health needs. And they argue that the increased use of health services will force the government to make cuts to other necessary services. Dont cut services - cut out the greedy middleman - the private insurers!
