From the archive: Sunday is the second anniversary of the shootings in Newtown, Conn. In an expression of solidarity between Tucson and Newtown, a banner covered with messages from Southern Arizonans was sent to Connecticut after the second anniversary of the Jan. 8 shootings, in 2013. The banner was hung from a railroad bridge on Church Hill Road, which leads to Sandy Hook Elementary School. Thousands of messages from Tucsonans were written on the banner, which hung outside the Tucson Childrens Museum before being sent to Newtown. tucsonsentinel/local/report/010513_beyond_tucson/action-focus-beyond-tucson-remembrances-jan-8/ tucsonsentinel/local/report/021113_bens_bells_newtown/bens-bells-finding-new-home-newtown/ tucsonsentinel/local/report/122112_silent_remembrance/tucsonans-sing-silent-night-newtown-victims/ tucsonsentinel/opinion/report/121412_newtown_op/yet-another-massacre-prayers-no-longer-enough/ tucsonsentinel/nationworld/report/121213_yr_after_newtown/a-year-after-newtown-searching-answers-nations-schools/
