Manager of engineering Andy Esarte said the hazard assessment would determine the magnitude and frequency of debris floods and debris flows, while the risk assessment examines infrastructure and people located on a creek fan and determines how vulnerable they are to various hazards. “You need to understand the hazard first in order to model how that hazard impacts the fan, which is the risk piece,” Esarte said. “The risk aspect will be different for different creeks.” #abwater #abflood
