From the article: Owners of Wallaceville’s 107 homes and businesses were offered the same deal that 254 residents in the floodway throughout High River, Calgary and elsewhere in southern Alberta: money equivalent to their 2013 assessed value. But while only 40 per cent of residents in other areas expressed interest in the provincial buyout, High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass said everyone will likely take the voluntary package in Wallaceville. “It’s just a matter of negotiating their tax assessments, but I don’t know anyone that’s staying in there,” he said in an interview. More than nine months after the flood, much of the neighbourhood is unoccupied. Homes remain fenced off or in shambles, and some denizens are still seeking refuge in the province’s temporary Saddlebrook settlement north of town. #abwater #abflood #highriver
