From the best seats in the house (Thank you, G.): Good morning...Id like to present you with one reason why I believe these stories are important and need to be funded. Im the son of immigrant parents. They were swept away from their country to avoid the aftermath of war. Their coming here was for the sake of freedom. Their parents (right or wrong) forced them to learn English quickly (language of the people here). Their parents took on the flag and pledge of the country that adopted them and painstaking worked to contribute to the country that we now call home. For the sake of freedom, I no longer know anything about my family, my country or origin, its history or its people. I hang the flag of the homeland when the world cup comes around and I joke that Im a wooden shoe, wooden head, wouldnt listen Dutchman But I know very little about that if Im honest. I love Canada. Im Canadian. I love my cousins in the US and would fight to defend our collective freedom to pray, to write and paint and record our history....at all costs. But I do long for my history too. And mine was given up for the sake of freedom. it wasnt stolen from me as some are. We are hovering around the mark to make this particular story get told. Ms Parsons doesnt have to research, promote, bloody well beg to tell it or the other historical items she is setting the record straight on. She could get up, have a coffee and carry on blindly with her day as many do. But she has stepped forward, proven she has the wear with all to make it happen. We need to ensure that history is told as true and clear to the youngest among us. So they can ensure no beautiful event is missed and no travesty repeated. Ms. Parsons and her team are prepared to see this happen and is asking that we merely take a moment and a couple of bucks from our coffee money to see it through. for the sake of all the history that has been covered up, trampled upon, beat back and hoped it was forgotten, may I ask that we hold to our pledges, add to them where ever possible and give this moment the attention and dedication it deserves.
