From the bottom of my heart, I hate that Im having to Pave paradise to put up a parking lot. BUT I HAVE TO DO IT In 1992, I was a Sheriffs Deputy in the Patrol Division. A part of my duties was to make a visit to the local businesses by not just driving by but also getting out to speak with the business owners and reassure them that we were keeping them in mind. Community Policing 101, at its best.... Well, as it were, one of my businesses was a plant and tree nursery and they had palm tree pups...on my day off, I went and purchased 3 pups...2 died and this tree, (that I am cutting down today), lived... It grew as my children grew. My children are all grown up now and gone from the nest... My business has sort of replaced the kids and has become that something for me to nurture....(and Lord knows that I am just that kind of woman that needs some thing to nurture) And alas, my growth is inclusive of cutting one of the Hallmark symbols of my childrens progress...and yet, it does not stop their progress..... Ironically, (in spite of the fact that I weep for my beautiful, majestic tree), the cutting of IT, at this time, is actually a symbol of my own growth. So who says that a single Mom or any parent has to go through an empty nest syndrome. When the kids leave and are (hopefully) secure in their own spaces, maybe its time to cut a few trees and paint a few rooms and re-define what lifes purpose is FOR YOU. I remain, SWEETSABINA
