From the comments section of The Times on-line: Jonathan Anthony 6 hours ago I was a member of Shareholders United when Fergie and Gill (remember them?) supported us to the hilt. At the time of the Fergie-inspired takeover, we were told, in no uncertain terms, by those in the know in Miami, that the Glazers knew what theyre doing, would let the club run as it has been to continued success, and would bring in increased revenues. They did that, and how. But at what cost? The individual who unwittingly brought them in was, of course, Sir Alex Ferguson thanks to that insufferable arrogance which gifted such success on the pitch, off it, he was hopelessly out of his depth. Once the Glazers were in, saving his skin from the Cubic 99 questions, he had no choice but to do their bidding. Even the toothless MUST continued to support the manager at all costs, rendering any sort of protest totally redundant. And because the team kept on winning, and in so doing rendering SAF as United personified, the Glazers disgraceful stranglehold tightened and we and the club paid. But ultimately Ferguson was to blame for the situation we are now in, as, in our support for him, were we. Ultimately, Glazernomics bought Bebe. So, idiot Reds, dance on Glazers grave like pitiful scousers, but never forget who brought him here, and what might have been had Fergie had just shut up, known his place and stuck to football, rather than the Sport of Kings… And think what might have been… The likes of Mansours riches and Uniteds balance sheet, in an FFP world…. My God… Pride comes before a fall...
