From the diaries of Grandma Wilkins – May 5 1963 – (Sun) Went to church, 28 present. Rena Hazlett died. Mom, Clarence & I went to Betty’s. Not home, so rode around. Richard’s here for supper. They & Jerry found mushrooms. 1964 – (Tue) Ironed, mended. Killed 2 hens, mowed grass & made some garden in eve. Sue Kept Jack & Lynn. Joyce on election board. Beautiful day. Dora A & Margarite here. 1965 – (Wed) Cloudy. Went to Good Hope Aid. Vera Trout hostess. Dad went to Dr. at New Lex. Sue gave me a permanent in eve. 1966 – (Thu) Nice. Warm & windy. I had W.M.S. 8 present. I quilted in eve. 1967 – (Fri) Gloomy. Jerry stayed home & ran disc for Bob W. I put up new awning, cleaned up house. Dad mowed & I trimmed yard in eve. 1968 – (Sun) Cool & cloudy. Went to church. Paul’s Richard’s, Roger’s & Penny here for supper in garage. Had chicken BarBQ. Geo. F. Smith’s here in eve. James Gotchell wrecked at Koblentz (old Skinner place). 1969 – (Mon) Beautiful day. Sue here & washed in PM. We got flowers at Green Thumb. We planted corn & onions in garden. I went to flower show at Lutheran Church in Glenford. Got a plastic pitcher with tea as a door prize. I ironed in eve. I washed the car. 1970 – (Tue) Cool then nice & cool again in eve. I went to foot Dr. Had right big toe nail cut out. Got car washed. Ate supper with Aunt Mabel & Nancy. Got groceries. Bob planted our corn. 1971 – (Wed) Cool & nice. We planted garden & Bob planted our corn. Jerry’s got their kitchen appliances at B.F.G. 1972 – (Fri) Cool. I took care of Mamma & cleaned up her house. Paul’s got their new car. Ivie operated on. 1973 – (Sat) Sunny. Over to F.H. PM & Eve. Joyce stayed all nite Fri nite. Cliff & Sybil all nite Sat. nite. 1974 – (Sun) Nice. I went to church & over to Edgar’s for dinner. We all went to Geo. F. in PM. Richard & Shawn brought me mushrooms on cycle. Ken here in eve. 1975 – (Mon) Nice. I washed. Jerry’s here, used my truck. I kept the boys. Garden Club in eve. Ken hauled manure. 1976 – (Wed) Cool then warm. I shot a ground hog at Nellie’s. I took her shopping at Southgate. 1977 – (Thu) Rained. I cooked a chicken. Penned dog. Worked in eve. Angie’s baby bitten by Mitchell’s dog. 1978 – (Fri) Worked 8 hours. Rainy. Nellie, Rhonda & I went to the bank at Somerset & then to Good Hope Mother Daughter banquet at Brownsville. 1979 – (Sat) Sunny & cool. We got groceries. I mowed the yard. In eve went to Larry West’s & paid off building. 1980 – (Mon) Nice. Went to Garden Club. I finished mowing in eve. 1981 – (Tue) Nice. I made pies. Mowed the yard. Jeff helped. Carl hauled manure. 1982 – (Wed) Very nice. I washed. Went to the bank. Florence Brown died, Edgar’s sister. 1983 – (Thu) Nice. We took kittens to vet. Took truck to get new tail pipe at B.F. Goodrich. To tractor place. Freed Gordon, 77, of Thornville died. 1984 – (Sat) Cool & nice. I made a cake. Kept Keri. Carl & I cleaned up some briars later. 1985 – (Sun) Nice & very windy. I went to church. 1986 – (Mon) Hot. Garden Club ate at Duff’s. I drove, took Clara, Glorine & Marjorie. We went to Wilson’s Greenhouse. 1987 – (Tue) Warmer. I made noodles & quilted. Cooked for Tussing’s. I trimmed around the house. Harold Cooperrider, 79, died. 1988 – (Thu) Rainy. I took noodles to Clum Barn. $9.00. To Lora R. $6.00 Went to bank. Ordered flowers at petal Pushers for alumni. Cooked for Tussing’s. Went with Mary Lou over to clean apartment. 1989 – (Fri) Gloomy, then rained. I cleaned the oven & quilted. I went to Dr. Paul in PM. I have gout in big toe. V. Dugan here in eve. 1990 – (Sat) Gloomy & little rain. I made veg soup & bran muffins. Donna Wilson buried, 57. 1991 – (Sun) Nice, warmer. I went to church. Made a lemon pie for G. C. Rained hard in eve. Geo. F., Ilajean, Steven, Joyce & Roger here in eve. 1992 – (Tue) Cool. I just messed around. Delbert Winegardner & son here in PM. Up to Sue’s in eve. She gave me a perm. She gave me begonias for Mother’s Day. 1993 – (Wed) Gloomy, 60°. I made noodles. Over to Joyce’s for supper. 1994 – (Thu) 40°+. I quilted. Keri here after school. In eve went with Connie to her Mother Daughter banquet at Top Hat in Junction City. 1995 – (Fri) Rained in morn & foggy. Sewed binding on Nancy’s quilt & started whipping. In eve went with Jerry’s to Tom’s for supper. 1996 – (Sun) Rained hard. I went to church. Fritz, Doris L. & T. Gordon & I ate at Bob Evans in Newark. In PM Anne & I set up for G. C. Over to Hoover’s & got flowers for G. C.
