From the diaries of Grandma Wilkins – May 7 1963 – (Tue) Kimberly’s 4th birthday. Cleaned the basement. Beautiful day. Sue, Dot & I went to band concert, chorus also sang. Dad worked on tractor. 1964 – (Thu) Kim 5 yrs. old. I had W.M.S., 21 present. 1965 – (Fri) Kim 6 yrs. old. I cleaned up the house & went to Reformed Church in eve. Dad got a hair cut. Jerry helping Ed D. Stayed all night at Joyce’s. Nice day. 1966 – (Sat) Kim’s Bday. 7 yrs. old. Nice day. I set out flowers. Mr. Frush here about furnace. Kept Richard’s kids in PM. They gave me a blouse & hanky & sachet for Mother’s Day. 1967 – (Sun) Rained & cool in morn. Went to church, sunny in eve. We up to Pappas in PM. Kim 8 yrs. Jerry got a possum up on the hill. 1968 – (Tue) Kim’s BD, 9 yrs. I washed & ironed & cleaned room upstairs. Went to vote. Joyce here for supper. Dad worked on post holes in eve. Cold & froze again. 1969 – (Wed) Nice. Bob planted our corn. I went to Good Hope Aid. Kept Richard’s kids in eve. 1970 – (Thu) Cool & sunny. W.M.S. at Ivie’s. 7 present. Dad mowed yard. In eve I took his supper up. I stopped at Alfred G. & Bob W. on way home. Gave Carolyn a cushion top for wedding gift. Froze. 1971 – (Fri) Gloomy. Hollis got eggs. Quilted a little. Richard got new panel truck. Jerry mowed lawn. 1972 – (Sun) Nice day & warm. Went to church & on up to Mamma’s for dinner & stayed til eve. 1973 – (Mon) Kim 14 yrs. Jerry’s still here. Penny washed & Jerry mowed yard. Out to Nellie’s a little bit. Over to cemetery, up to Jerry’s & Lucille’s. Over to Edgar’s in eve. 1974 – (Tue) Nice. I took Edgar’s to get groceries in PM. I took Mae to get hair cut & set at Sue’s. I stayed at Ken’s for supper. Froze. 1975 – (Wed) Nice. I took Garden Club money to the bank. Up to Sue’s & we over to Leora Varner’s. Ken disked the garden & I finished mowing the yard. Naomi in hospital. 1976 – (Fri) Gloomy & cool. I just messed around. Washed my hair. Kim 17 yrs. Rhonda & I with Nellie to Mother/Daughter banquet at Brownsville church. 1977 – (Sat) Rainy then nice. In PM up to Richard’s & Ruth’s. Saw Sharon’s boys. Got gas then mowed my yard & washed the car. Geo. F. here in eve. Lyn brought me a fugi mum for Mother’s Day. Sue got me shorts, blouse & 2 mums. 1978 – (Sun) Gloomy & sprinkles. Kim’s 19th BD. Went to church, went with Ruth, Ralph, Jim M. & Evelyn to Holiday Inn for dinner. I beat Ruth at game of dominoes. Up to Uncle V’s a bit. 1979 – (Mon) Beautiful day, very warm. I went to G.C. Mowed some in eve. Carl hauled 4 loads manure. Total 18. Betty Smith had a heart attack & in hospital. 1980 – (Wed) Cool. I made a new cake. We went to Canal Winchester in PM. Paid on farm. Ate supper at K.F. Lancaser. 1981 – (Thu) Cold & sunny. Our Guild served St. Paul’s Lutheran Mother/Daughter banquet. 1982 – (Fri) Nice then little rain in eve. I made a cake & pie. Washed my hair, trimmed some grass. Carl hauled manure. Rained more. 1983 – (Sat) Nice & very windy. Kim 24. We to Freed Gordon’s funeral at Boring F.H. In eve Jerry’s & Joyce’s here. Richard here at noon & gave me a hanging basket of impatiens. Joyce a orchid corsage. Jerry, some perfume. Oil check $348.00. Rained in eve. 1984 – (Mon) Kim 25 yrs. Rainy. I went to G. C. I mowed the yard. Roger W. here in eve. Roger James, 45 yrs, killed in auto accident in Alaska. 1985 – (Tue) Kim’s BD. I made noodles. 1986 – (Wed) Hot. I made noodles. I was sick with a cold. 1987 – (Thu) Very nice. I cleaned up the house. Cooked for Tussing’s in eve. Over to Valeria’s and we potted flowers for Mother’s Day. 1988 – (Sat) Very nice. I washed my hair, clothes & my car. I made deviled eggs & graham cracker pie for Sue’s on Sunday. Russell Cooperrider’s son in law died. Dollie Eckenrode, 100+, died. 1989 – (Sun) Snowed & cold. I went to church. I went with Wilma to Mother/Daughter banquet at Olivet in eve. 1990 – (Mon) Sunny & warmed up. I went to Garden Club. Harold Jolly sick & in hospital at Lancaster. Keri & Penny here. 1991 – (Tue) Nice but cool. I washed. Made out G. C. minutes. Quilted. Keri helped me bring flowers downstairs. I cleaned upstairs. 1992 – (Thu) Nice, I washed up. Mary Lou filled syringes. In eve went with Connie to their Mother/Daughter banquet at Top Hat at Junction City. 1993 – (Fri) Cool then nice. I washed woodwork in kitchen & bathroom. Keri here after school. Aaron here and mowed the yard. 1994 – (Sat) 47°+. I quilted. Over to Underwood’s & got my screens. In eve to UCC at Thornville to Sue’s Mother/Daughter banquet. Lori gave me petunia’s & Sue gave me pinks. 1995 – (Sun) Very nice. I went to church. In PM Ruth & I took Nancy Phillips‘ quilt to her. I worked on programs for Mother/Daughter banquet. 1996 – (Tue) Cool. I drove, took ? M. & Irene A. to Junction City to G. C. swap party in eve.
