From the district website (barbertonschools.org) Elementary School Day Includes Computer Instruction Elementary students in Barberton City Schools receive technology instruction from teachers Miss Laura Lucas at East and Mrs. Denise Recob at West. The technology curriculum provides each grade level the chance to participate in a series of computer safety activities tailored to their specific grade level. All grades learn about parts of the computer and their functions, as well as a little bit of tech history. A hands-on approach teaches students why and how technology is helpful and useful. Throughout the year, each grade level will also build up tech knowledge (word processing, emailing, use of digital images, internet research, etc.). Students work throughout the year to complete a final project that increases their skills and strengthens their understanding of concepts taught in their classrooms: Kindergarten: A collaborative alphabet book. First Grade: A written piece with graphic illustrations, varied font and other text features. Second Grade: An online presentation of an animal research project. Third Grade: An online Barberton history presentation. Fourth Grade: An online presentation of an Ohio inventor research project.
