From the editor of the new magazine (SEE THRU) targeting Alexandrias upper classes: ...We wanted to make a call to improve our attitudes and the general atmosphere in streets, which is why our team chose King Mariout for the shooting. As more and more people are moving there, we considered it might represent an opportunity and the future of our beloved Alexandria. Ok, there is a problem here. It is not that there is anything wrong with King Mariout (a compound on the outskirts of Alexandria), buying property there, moving there, or even being wealthy. But in no way is King Mariout the new Alexandria and in no way are its streets representative of main Alexandrias streets. For the majority, there will be only one Alexandria that they will ever know. This troubling mindset governs a number of these big and small movers and shakers to abandon Alexandria to the flames of ill-conceived development that they largely authored. So in other words, they are reaping the financial benefits of the trail of socio-economic and cultural destruction that they are leaving behind. This is why it is no surprise that Alexandrias elites have been transformed from an intellectual and cultured elite to a parasitical and consumerist one, showing no awareness whatsoever to the concerns of the public good that they, you would think, have a stake in. Fixing Alexandria, if one is sincere, starts in Alexandria proper, not in compounds and resorts.
