From the family of Peyton Coleman Flowers How will we ever be able to express our gratitude to this community of friends and family for the love and support you have shown us in these past difficult days? Saying “Thank you” doesn’t seem to carry near enough meaning, but we say to you all: Thank you. Thank you for loving Peyton as he loved you all so very much. Thank you for sharing your stories and memories of him and giving us laughter in our tears – after all, Peyton was good at making us laugh. Thank you for sitting with us at the hospital. What a beautiful sight it was to see you each day, and to know you were there for our boy and for us. Thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff at KDMC and UMMC. You cared for Peyton – and us – with kindness and tenderness. We are grateful. Thank you for the food. Oh my goodness, the food! Mississippi has the best cooks and the most generous people in all the world. Thank you for donating to Peyton’s benefit fund to help with medical bills and expenses. Thank you for being there – some of you drove hours and waited hours more – to visit with us on Sunday night, and hug us and share our sorrow. Thank you for coming back on Monday afternoon to help us say our earthly goodbye to this amazing young man that we all loved so much. Thank you, Loyd Star School, for being home to Peyton and Parker, and for throwing wide open your doors and your hearts so we, too, could be at home. Thank you, churches, for truly being the body of Christ to us. Thank you to every school, team, and athlete who showed us the most important thing in football is brotherhood. You offered us compassion as well as competition. We are so proud of all of you. Thank you for every post on the “Praying for Peyton” page that encouraged and comforted us, and has spread as far and as wide as Uganda and Australia, sharing not just the story of Peyton, but the story of Jesus with thousands. And finally, thank you for praying. What an incredible blessing it has been to be so fervently prayed for. There is no greater gift to offer or receive. You have taken Peyton and our family to the very throne of God and lifted us up by name and by need, and we are forever grateful. We prayed for a miracle, and, friends, we have indeed received one. Through the life and death of Peyton, God has revealed His might, His majesty, and His LOVE in ways no one ever could have foreseen. Don’t let this stop here – continue to pray without ceasing. The world needs more people on their knees. Let’s be those people. I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
